FAQs Batteries - LTO Series
1. What is the AMPHERR LTO Series?
It is a family of lithium titanate (LTO) battery packs, called the LTO-Toshiba Series on the page, built for extreme durability. It delivers reliable power for off-highway equipment, commercial vehicles, and fuel-cell, serial hybrid, and ultra-fast-charge applications.
2. Which battery pack models and capacities are in the LTO Series?
There are six models: LTO-700-013 (13.2 kWh), LTO-700-015 (15.2 kWh), LTO-700-027 (26.5 kWh), LTO-700-031 (30.5 kWh), LTO-800-031 (30.9 kWh), and LTO-800-036 (35.6 kWh). Installed energy is specified at 1/3C.
3. Why choose lithium titanate (LTO) batteries?
LTO technology is chosen for ultra-fast charging, long cycle life, and high safety and temperature stability. It suits heavy-duty and high-utilization use cases and mission-critical applications that need maximum uptime.
4. What charge and discharge currents do the packs support?
At 25 °C and depending on state of charge, continuous charge and discharge current is 140 A (013), 100 A (015), 280 A (027 and 800-031), and 200 A (031 and 800-036). Peak current for 10 seconds is 377 A for the 700V-class models and 324 A for the 800V-class models.
5. How many charge cycles do LTO packs offer?
All LTO packs are specified for more than 20,000 cycles. Actual cycle life depends on your power profile, depth of discharge, and temperature.
6. How does the LTO Series differ from the NMC and LFP series?
LTO trades energy density for durability. Energy density is up to 50 to 64 Wh/kg, compared with up to 144 to 179 Wh/kg for AMPHERR’s NMC packs. In return you get more than 20,000 cycles, ultra-fast charging capability, and charging across -30 to 55 °C. Choose LTO for high-utilization, fast-charging duty cycles and NMC or LFP when energy per kilogram matters most.
7. What is the voltage range?
The 700V-class models have a nominal voltage of 662 V and an operating range of 432 to 778 V. The 800V-class models have a nominal voltage of 773 V and a range of 504 to 908 V.
8. How are the packs cooled, and what temperatures can they operate in?
They use liquid cooling with a flow rate of 10 to 15 l/min, a pressure drop below 300 mbar, and a coolant pressure below 2 bar. Operating temperature is -30 to 55 °C for both charging and discharging, with a recommended range of 15 to 35 °C. Storage is -40 to 60 °C (-40 to 55 °C for LTO-700-015 and -031), and the rating is IP67 when the plug connectors are mated.
9. Which vehicles and applications are the packs designed for?
Off-highway equipment, commercial vehicles, and fuel-cell, serial hybrid, and ultra-fast-charge applications. Supported vehicles include light commercials, city buses, locomotives, containers, marine vessels, industrial machinery, trucks, and tractors.
10. Which certifications and standards apply?
ECE R100.2, ECE R10.6, and UN38.3 certifications, plus IATF 16949:2016-certified manufacturing.
11. What is built into each pack?
An integrated BMS, an integrated precharge circuit, isolation measurement, and CANBus 2.0A-B communication. All products share a common Pack Junction Box (PJB), and control equipment runs on a 12 or 24 V supply.
12. Which housing types and sizes are available?
2V16, 2V32, 2V34, and 4V16, with weights from about 280 kg to 560 kg depending on the housing.
13. Can I combine several packs, and which accessories are available?
Yes, AMPHERR supports multiple battery system layouts. Accessories are the PDU, MPCU (Multi-Pack Controller Unit), RCB, and APE.
14. How can I request a quote or technical support?
